Meet Terry Bergeson
Terry Bergeson, Ph.D., recently retired for the third time after 2 years at Pacific Lutheran University as the Interim Dean of Education and Kinesiology. Terry is a lifelong educator from Massachusetts, Alaska, and our state of Washington. She was Vice President and President for 8 years of the Washington Education Association as well as a district administrator and the Executive Director of Washington’s Commission on Student Learning. In that role, she drove the development of new learning standards for our state in 8 content areas including strong inquiry science standards for K-12 students. She was then elected for 12 years as Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction. She built a strong statewide learning community with inquiry science at the heart of it and supported major positive changes in education across the state. She knows the power of integrated Science and STEM teaching and learning for kids from all backgrounds.
